Ramona Parker aka Ms. Melodie former member of BDP passed away at age 43. The cause of death is unknown. She was hip hop royalty and represented strength and unity. Ms. Melody is the former wife to Krs One. I was first introduced to Ms. Melodie as an artist in self destruction.
Ms. Melodie was part of the women movement back in the 90s. She stood along side Queen Latifah and Monie Love in “Ladies First”. “Live on Stage’ was her biggest hit. She was signed to Jive Records and released Diva her one and only album.
I was saddened yesterday when I heard of her passing, almost felt like an end to an era for me. A time where women weren’t recognized based upon how much skin they showed, how comical they were, no pop princesses just unadulterated talent, spit game, a voice, and Mtv. Ms. Melodie leaves behind two sons and a host of family and friends. May God comfort her soul as she rest in peace.
