Jay-Z Open Letter To The Critics

Beyonce-Jayz- in -cuba- smoking- on -a -stickie

Jay Z Open letter released on his website Life and Times dispels and addresses the flack the Jayonce’s have endured over these past few weeks. Jay pens a letter via lyrics over a dope beat.

Jay has a way with words and he cleverly play on every situation and opposition letting his fans and his critics know that, no matter what you say, do, or think he’s still winning.

via Huff Post

Jay-Z and Beyonce don’t always address rumors, but when they do, they don’t hold back. Beyonce made a whole movie to dispel a few rumors about her pregnancy and life, and on Thursday, Jay-Z released “Open Letter,” a blistering diss track that takes aim at politicians criticizing the couple’s trip to Cuba, mocks stories about his new sports management company and even throws a bit of shade Barack Obama’s way.

“Politicians never did sh-t for me / except lie to me, distort history,” Hov raps after boasting that he “done turned Havana into Atlanta.”

“They wanna give me jail time and a fine — Fine, let me commit a real crime,” he says, referencing conservative politician’s efforts to investigate his trip to Cuba. “Obama said, ‘Chill you’re going to get me impeached’ / You don’t need this sh-t anyway, chill with me on the beach.”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland produced the track. Swizz can be heard adding his signature “right!” and “God damn it!” drops throughout the track. He also memorably repeats the line “Y’all goin’ learn today,” a refrain Jay picks up later in the song.

In a morning call on New York’s Hot 97, Swizz revealed that the song was started in Jay-Z’s office. “I had the portable drum machine with me, then we went down to the 40/40 [club] to watch the game,” he said. “Then [Timbaland] came by and was like, ‘That beat is crazy.’ Next morning, Jay called me with verses.”

Hot 97 played the record on repeat for hours. Ebro Darden, the station’s programming director, makes an appearance on the song, ad-libbing “you got scanners, we got scanners.” Trey Songz is also featured — he’s the man singing opera in the background.

Jay’s plans to start a new sports agency — and finance the project by unloading his minority share in the Brooklyn Nets — also make an appearance in the song:

“I woulda moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free

Except I made millions off you f–king dweebs

I still own the building, I’m still keeping my seats

You buy that bullsh-t, you better keep your receipts.”

“Open Letter” and Beyonce’s “Bow Down” (in which the singer calls her peers “bitches” and demands they “bow down” before her) represent hip-hop’s royal couple flexing their musical muscles after keeping things politically correct during the 2012 election cycle. As big supporters and friends of the First Family, they held fundraisers and appeared in ads for the Obama campaign. It seems that now the election’s over, the couple fancies a return to hip-hop’s more aggressive style of stunting.

Rihanna and JayZ Heart To Heart Chat about ChrisBrown

Jay Z has taken on that Daddy or Big Brother role for Rihanna as he allegedly tells Chris Brown you can date her but you better keep your hands to yourself or else……

Chris and Rihanna are back together on the semi low, with rumors of the hot couple eloping, baby scares, and the back and forth between the three way love triangle Chris, Rihanna, and Karrueche, it’s almost inevitable for the two to publicly become one.

The Godfather persona of rap, Jay-Z gave his it’s okay but, it’s really not ok speech and added if Rihanna gets hurt emotionally and or physically by Chris Breezy, Jay is going to try his best to end Chris Brown’s career, like he did death to auto tunes, according to a snitch in high places.

Jay-Z Thinks Hip Hop Was Stifled By Nirvana And Their Grunge Music

JAY Z GETTING HIS GROWN MAN OWN AND LOOKING QUITE DAPPER IN A TWO PIECE GREY SUIT

Our 90′s rappers didn’t look like this….suit and tie

Jay-Z thinks Hip Hop was stifled by Nirvana with the whole grunge movement. He goes on to say that the 90′s rebellious youth was searching for exactly what Kurt Cobain was screaming about on “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

Via Spin

In his upcoming coffee-table book Pharrell: The Places and Spaces I’ve Been (Rizzoli), human hyphenate Pharrell Williams includes interviews between him and notables ranging from Buzz Aldrin to Kanye West to Anna Wintour to Jay-Z. For the most part, they’re of the tell-me-how-you-do-what-you-do variety, but the back-and-forth between producer-designer-rapper Williams and Jay-Z quickly reaches Nirvana. Literally.

“So, where were you mentally and physically when grunge music hit?” Pharrell asks Jay-Z. “Like where were you when you first heard, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit?’”

Coincidentally, Hova was in Pharrell’s home state of Virgina when he heard the generation-defining song for the first time. But he’s more interested in discussing why the song hit so hard than where he was when it got going. “First we got to go back to before grunge and why grunge happened,” reasons Jay. “‘Hair bands’ dominated the airwaves and rock became more about looks than about actual substance and what it stood for—the rebellious spirit of youth….That’s why ‘Teen Spirit’ rang so loud because it was right on point with how everyone felt, you know what I’m saying?”

Jay-Z then goes on to say that grunge actually stalled the rise of hip-hop in popular culture. “It was weird because hip-hop was becoming this force, then grunge music stopped it for one second, ya know?” he says. “Those ‘hair bands’ were too easy for us to take out; when Kurt Cobain came with that statement it was like, ‘We got to wait awhile.’”

Mjj says….. I was that rebellious youth at that time and I could not get enough of Nirvana’s “Teen Spirit” and “Heart Shaped Box”. As of today I still have that on rotation and, as captivating and spell binding it was for me, I was just simmering down from my Beastie Boys high so it was easy to connect to Nirvana.

Make no mistakes, the airwaves were dominated by Real Lyricist like Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions and Eric B and Rakim and then came along NWA, Ice T, and the Geto Boys that propelled rap music and hip hop to another stratosphere …

I refuse to believe the nonsense Jay Z is spewing and I’ll put it plain and simple. Hawaiian Sophie wasn’t popping ….Hip Hop was a culture back then now it’s more like a brand any quick scheme to get rich, find a catchy hook, come onstage with silicone filled body parts and be as extreme as you can be, the more extreme the less talented……not to many are listening to the lyrics. We are so over saturated with all the distractions we ‘re losing the glue that once held a strong bond….

This book and Jay’s statement isn’t about hip hop ……it’s about money and selling a book ….job well done, now all the non colored people will go and buy this book because they threw out the name Kurt Cobain ….GTFOH……WAKE UP.
