Trayvon Martin’s family attended a vigil last night in new York City. Yesterday marks the one year anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s brutal shooting. Trayvon was stalked and gunned down in cold blood. Trayvon suffered a fatal gunshot wound at the hands of George Zimmerman a wannabe police officer/town watchman.
Travon’s family joined a number of approx 200 attendees in a candlelight vigil to remember Trayvon and to protest against national gun laws and racial profiling.
Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, were joined by actor Jamie Foxx and a crowd of about 200 people on Tuesday evening in Manhattan’s Union Square Park. They lit candles and held a moment of silence at 7:17 p.m., the time Martin was fatally shot on Feb. 26, 2012.
“I’m the mother of two boys,” Fulton said. “I have one son on earth and one son in heaven.”
The 17-year-old unarmed black teenager, who had been wearing a hooded sweatshirt, was killed by neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman after the two got into a confrontation in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. Civil rights leaders said that if Martin had been white, Zimmerman, whose father is white and whose mother is Hispanic, would have been arrested immediately instead of weeks later.
Jacksonville prosecutor Angela Corey took over the investigation and filed second-degree murder charges against Zimmerman a month and a half after Martin’s shooting. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense, and his trial is set for June.
Martin’s shooting set off a national outcry over race issues and stand-your-ground laws, which allow people to use deadly force if their lives are in danger.
At the vigil, the crowd members were told “Hoods up!” and were asked to put up their hooded sweatshirts, which have become symbols of the outrage over Martin’s death.
“This day, until the day I die, will always be Hoods Up Day for me,” Tracy Martin said.
Foxx told the crowd that when he met Fulton after her son’s death, it made him think about something happening to his own teenage daughter.
“I just started to think: What would I feel like if she wasn’t there with me?” he said.
Machelle Dean, the mother-in-law of George Zimmerman, was arrested for a DUI in Volusia County.
This according to the Orlando Sintenial:
“Machelle Dean, whose daughter Shellie Zimmerman is married to George Zimmerman, was arrested Aug. 8 after witnesses called authorities to report a reckless driver on State Road 415 in Osteen.
Dean, of Lake Mary, told deputies she has prescriptions for hydrocodone, Xanax and carisoprodol.
She told deputies she took at least two of the painkillers before driving.
According to a report from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses told deputies Dean was swerving in and out of her lane, almost crashing into oncoming traffic several times.
She also nearly hit a pedestrian and construction cones, the report said.
A witness traveling behind Dean’s Lincoln sedan called 911 and then stopped when the Lincoln pulled off the road.
One witness told deputies they were “certain the driver of the vehicle was going to kill someone or themselves.”
When the police arrived on the scene, Dean’s words were slurred and had watery eyes. She also failed the field sobriety tests that were administered. This summer Dean’s daughter, Shellie Zimmerman was arrested on a perjury charge after she lied about her finances during a hearing for her husband’s murder case.
On February 27th, George Zimmerman was arrested for killing unarmed Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. He still awaiting trial, but his lawyers say that he fears for his life.
George Zimmerman and his wife Shellie Zimmerman caught on tape discussing how to withdraw thousands of dollars from their relief fund, to put aside for themselves. Zimmerman instructs wife to buy bullet proof vest, and also referred to having his hoodie on, as he snickers.
Prosecutors on Monday released audiotapes and transcripts of six phone calls between George and Shellie Zimmerman, all placed while George was in a Sanford jail awaiting a bond hearing.
The calls, placed between April 15 and April 18 — two days before Zimmerman was granted a $150,000 bond, which has since been revoked — showed the couple in loving conversation, and Shellie Zimmerman making an accounting to her husband of the bills she’s paid, the arrangements their “security expert” has been making, and what prosecutors say are coded references to approximately $135,000 collected in a PayPal account connected to George Zimmerman’s website.
The judge in the case revoked Zimmerman’s bond after prosecutors accused Shellie Zimmerman of misleading the court about the couple’s finances. Bank records show Shellie Zimmerman transferred large sums from the PayPal account to her checking account in several transactions up to the day before the April 20 bond hearing.
Among the revelations in the calls:
- George Zimmerman counseled his wife, and his attorney, Mark O’Mara, to purchase bulletproof vests, out of concern for their security.
- In an April 15 call, George Zimmerman instructed his wife on how to change the passcodes to his account, so that she could gain access. Prosecutors say he did so in order to facilitate moving money from the PayPal account to Shellie Zimmerman’s credit union account.
- Shellie Zimmerman said during one of the calls that the website George Zimmerman created prior to his arrest “kept crashing” because so many people were logging on to wish him well. Zimmerman expresses happiness at the support, and says those people need to “vocalize themselves more.”
- George Zimmerman reveals that he is taking Adderall, a drug commonly prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
During a call on April 17, two days before the bond hearing, George and Shellie discuss how he’d like to be picked up from jail if he is able to get bond. The two discuss renting two SUVs and whether or not the windows can be tinted. Shellie Zimmerman suggests that might not be necessary, because George could simply “lie down” in the back of one, to which George answers, “well I’ll have my hoodie,” followed by what sounds like a muffled laugh.
Trayvon Martin wore a hoodie on the night he was shot to death by Zimmerman in February. Hoodies have become a charged symbol not just for the shooting, but in the minds of many African-Americans, for the stereotyping of black men.
George Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder in the Trayvon Martin killing. A new bond hearing is set for June 29th.

MEDIAJUICEJOINT- These tapes tell a lot about their character and intent…..Shady Shady and more Shady.
George Zimmerman’s donation have spiked since his return to jail, for lying about his finances. It’s being reported that Zimmerman is clearing approximately a thousand dollars a day. Who in the hell is giving Trayvon Martin’s killer money?
According to the news source, Zimmerman has about $193,000 in his defense fund, of which $20,000 has been spent on living expenses, hotels and security. Since being ordered back to jail, Zimmerman has seen an increase in contributions upwards of $1,000 a day.
It’s not again like they were trying to hide the money or leave with the money,” Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, told ABC. “They just had it… and felt like they needed to secure themselves.”
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer accused of second degree murder in the killing of Miami teenager Trayvon Martin reported back to jail in Seminole County, Florida, after a judge revoked his bond for misleading the court about his finances.
According to a press release from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, Zimmerman “was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility at approximately 1:45 p.m. today pursuant to a court order issued by Judge Lester ordering him to be remanded into custody.” The release further states that Zimmerman will be housed in administrative confinement, separated from the general population from the jail in a cell designed for two prisoners due to the volatile nature of his case. Zimmerman is on “no bond” status, and there is no information available about the date of his next bond hearing from the sheriff’s office.
George Zimmerman’s bond revoked in the Trayvon Martin Case, Go Directly to jail DO NOT Pass GO. All his lies are coming to surface, if Zimmerman will lie about something small to gain his freedom, what about the Ultimate lie, the King of lies….. I shot in self defense lie. His liawyer couldn’t slick talk his client out of this one, a brilliant stroke of un luck.
Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. said that Zimmerman engaged in “material falsehood” about money in issuing his ruling.
About an hour before the ruling came, prosecutors in the second-degree murder case again Zimmerman had filed a new motion requesting the bond revocation. They contended Zimmerman’s wife knew about the donations he had collected through a PayPal account, but didn’t mention the money at his bond hearing.
Zimmerman’s PayPal account collected more than $200,000, his attorney later revealed.
“Defendant has intentionally deceived the court with the assistance of his wife, Shelley Zimmerman. During the jail phone calls both of them spoke in code to hide what they were doing,” the motion read.
The judge said Zimmerman had misled the court at his bond hearing.
The defense says the finances are an innocent misunderstanding.
Prosecutors also argued that Zimmerman has a second passport in addition to the one he surrendered.
Zimmerman was previously released after making a bond that had been set at $150,000. On Friday, Judge Lester gave the 28-year old Zimmerman two days to turn himself in.
The defendant has repeatedly claimed he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense on the night of Feb. 26 as the teen was walking in Zimmerman’s Sanford, Fla. community.
Mediajuicejoint- Back to the clinky clink he goes………..
Trayvon Martin had the drug THC in his system proves what? My 69 year old grandmother has THC in her system due to her medicinal use for her glaucoma, does it defame her character, does it make her a criminal, a deviant, does it cancel out all of her good deeds?
I don’t believe so, and it should NOT be used to cast a shadow on Trayvon Martin’s character either. So let’s jump into this new, so called discoveries found.
New evidence released in the murder case of Trayvon Martin reveals issues that delve more deeply into what happened the night the teen was killed, although it does not seem to shine a brighter light on him or his killer, George Zimmerman.
Martin’s autopsy shows that he had the drug THC in his system, which is the active ingredient in marijuana, ABC News reported. The autopsy also revealed that the fatal gunshot wound in Martin’s chest was fired at close range, which may be consistent with other evidence that the two got into a fight of some kind. Zimmerman claimed to police that Martin attacked him and bashed his head into the pavement repeatedly. The autopsy showed a cut on one of Martin’s fingers, also indicating a struggle.
Martin was visiting his father in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., while serving a suspension from school for being caught with a bag containing marijuana residue. However, the traces of THC in his system does not mean he used the drug the night he was killed. Tetrahyradcannabinol can stay in the human body for as long as 30 days or more depending on the potency of the individual plant, how much was used and the physiological makeup of the user.
The autopsy report is just one piece of a trove of evidence released by Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey, who has charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder in the case. Other evidence includes 911 call recordings, video of both Martin and Zimmerman, 67 compact discs filled with documents related to the case, and a photo taken by one of the police officers at the scene which shows Zimmerman’s bloodied nose.
The photo, taken by officer Michael Wagner and downloaded to his computer, had not been seen before; Wagner hadn’t shown it to anyone until he found out there were no other photos of Zimmerman taken at the scene, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The report also includes the statement of a witness who says he observed Martin on top of Zimmerman, punching him as he lay on the ground, then hearing a “pop” — which is consistent with Zimmerman’s claims of being in a fight with Martin, then firing his weapon and killing him. Still, police have no witnesses who actually say how the fight started, or whether Zimmerman provoked the incident as prosecutors have charged.
Still, a portion of the report also says police believe the entire altercation could have been “completely avoidable” if Zimmerman had stayed in his car and waited until police arrived.
“The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog to dispel each party’s concern,” the Sanford Police Department’s report says. “There is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter.”
The police report goes on to state that there was probable cause to arrest George Zimmerman for the shooting, although Seminole County prosecutor Norm Wolfinger later declined to do so citing that he believe that probable cause did not exist.
Mediajuicejoint- Anything to deflect from the fact that Trayvon Martin, a black teenage boy was shot and murdered because he was walking in the wrong neighborhood. Due to the fact that he was a young black male he was deemed a suspicious character that needed to be stalked and killed.
Trayvon Martin had THC in his system means nothing, I wonder what George Zimmerman had in his system that night…..oh I forgot he was never tested for drugs or alcohol. He received a high five and go sleep it off, but wait don’t forget to self inflict wounds, and then go see your doctor later …….The Good Ol Boy Network took care of the finer details that would have a made a difference SMH.
So THC in his system, defines his character and makes it alright to stalk him and chop down his life in cold blood?
Scratch a lie find a thief, Zimmerman’s liawyer claimed that he wasn’t aware of the 200,000 dollars he generated from his website, supposedly for his defense, now the site is shutdown and Zimmerman is out on bail, a bail that was set at 150,000…and would have been set for a higher amount if the judge was aware of the extra funds from the website.
SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Calling it an “oversight,” George Zimmerman’s attorney said Friday the neighborhood watch volunteer did not disclose that a website had raised more than $200,000 for his defense, even though his family told the judge they would have trouble coming up with his bond.
“Quite honestly, with everything he is going through over the past few weeks, if that is the only oversight committed, then we’ll deal with it,” said Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara.
O’Mara claimed the family was not trying to be deceptive, but Florida Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester said he wanted to know more about the money. O’Mara doesn’t think the judge will change Zimmerman’s bond in light of the new information.
Zimmerman was released from jail earlier this week, and has gone into hiding ever since over concerns about his safety. He is accused of second-degree murder for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager. Zimmerman wasn’t charged for more than six weeks, setting off nationwide protests. He claims self-defense.
Zimmerman’s father is white and his mother is from Peru.
An attorney for Martin’s family said the teenager’s parents were “offended” Zimmerman did not tell the judge about the money.
“This is a bombshell that was dropped,” Benjamin Crump said.
O’Mara said he learned about the money this week, after Zimmerman’s release. The family used $5,000 from the website as well as a second mortgage on their home to bail out Zimmerman, O’Mara said. Zimmerman has also used some of the money for living expenses.
The website has been taken down, but O’Mara said the defense is starting two others.
Also Friday, Lester refused the prosecution’s request to issue a gag order on those involved in the murder trial. He said he would not stop Zimmerman’s attorneys from talking to the media.
“This case is the most significant media event in the country, maybe in the world. We can’t be absolutely mute about these matters,” O’Mara said.
Mediajuicejoint- If you lie you will steal, if you steal you will kill, that’s what an Old Wise Woman use to say, in George Zimmerman’s case I guess it’s true.
