The 2012 American Music Award show was held at the Nokia Theater Nov 18 in LA. It was a star studded event that highlighted the best and creative artist of the year.
Nicki Minaj, Usher, Chris Brown, Ludacris, Stevie Wonder, Psy, and MC Hammer took to the stage to showcase what they do best in raw form.
Their performances were all on point but, the best performance was Psy and MC Hammer, it’s been about 20 years since Hammer showcased his dancing skills and to see him on stage with great stage presence left me in awe.
Beyonce won the award for Favorite Soul R&B female artist. Nicki Minaj took two home for favorite Rap artist and album. Rihanna of course won Favorite Soul R&B album for “Talk That Talk”….congrats to all.
Check Out some of the highlighted performances below
Whitney Houston passed away at age 48, Whitney had one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. She won 6 Grammy’s, 30 billboard music awards, 22 American Music Awards, and Two Emmy’s. There is no doubt that Whitney Houston was super talented and had a golden voice. She appeared in two movies The Body Guard costarring along Hollywood’s golden boy Kevin Costner and Waiting to Exhale.
Whitney was such a polished and poised act, a pop diva. When she started dating Bad Boy Bobby Brown from the teen heartbreak group New Edition it raised the eyebrows of so many, Whitney said in defense of all the speculations.‘‘When you love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place,’’ she told Rolling Stone in 1993. ‘‘You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that’s their image. It’s part of them, it’s not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody’s angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy. After they married in 1992 it appeared as if Whitney was spiraling out of control and struggling with drug addiction. Her erratic behavior overshadowed her good girl image.
Whitney recorded 7 hit albums, her last album was in 2009 “I Look To You” which went platinum but was plagued with show cancellations along with abruptly ending her tour. It was rumored that she had lost her voice, she wasn’t able to hit the high notes she once did effortlessly. To date Whitney has sold over 200 million albums and singles. Whitney Houston had traveled down a bumpy road but was able to overcome some of her obstacles.
Whitney’s marriage to Bobby Brown ended in 2007, and Whitney checked herself into a treatment program and was on the road of recovery. Whitney leaves behind one child Bobbi Christina, with her former husband Bobby Brown. I will always remember Whitney Houston as the Diva with the Golden Voice and she will forever live on through her music. May Her Soul Rest in Peace.
David Guetta second collabo with Nicki Minaj “Turn Me On ” puts Nicki in a whole new category. Her vocals with a little help of auto tunes is not half bad. The track fist pumpin techno sound will make the crowd go crazy in a club. The video has that eerie but exciting feel to it, first glance I thought it was Lady Gaga.
David Guetta cranked out a carved Nicki Minaj playing on the spin of all the rumors about the plastic Harajuku Barbie. I think the video is pure brilliance and takes Nicki’s animation to the next level. The music video was shot last year, and this was the perfect time to unleash since we are all waiting for “Pink Friday” to drop.
At the American Music Awards last November, MTV News spoke to Guetta about working with the fierce rapper. “I want to see the reaction that people are gonna have because they are going to hear Nicki like they’ve never heard her before. … I really can’t wait to get the reaction from the American audience when they’re gonna see her sing like this because she is killing it. … She always comes with the crazy ideas,” he said. “So it’s very exciting.”
REVOLUTION OF THE PLASTIC DOLLS ARE ON THE RISE, NICKI MINAJ TRYING TO GET THAT GAGA GWAP
The 2011 AMA Awards show took place last night and it had some highlights and stunning performances. Who had the best performance? Normally I would say Chris Brown, but not last night even though I enjoyed his footwork and his wish he can take it al back ode to Rihanna, JLo was the stunner last night.
Jlo is no Shakira but her hips don’t lie either, the way she moved said it all. When she backed it up like a Tonka on Pit Bull and you can tell she was holding back makes it crystal clear to why Diddy still have regrets.
Nicki robotic entrance and look wasn’t nothing out of the ordinary but I stayed fixed to the TV, love the pink hair, pretty face, animated Marilyn Monroe look. Drake was boring too, but I love “Headliners”. They could have combined their performances and got the same effect and saved some time.
Mary J Blige always stunning and provides a captivating experience on stage. She sings with all her heart and for that suspended moment you actually feel the connection. The closing was beautiful honoring the late Great Heavy D had me in tears.
