Spike “Do The Right Thing” Lee says Django Unchained a Tarantino flick starring Jaime Fox is disrespectful to his ancestors and he is NOT going to see it. Spike spoke with Vibe TV where he expressed his views about the slave movie, in other words who needs to see that, when you can watch Roots day and night on Bet.
Spike goes on to say ”I can’t speak on it, cause I’m not going to see it. I’m not seeing it. I’m only going to say, ‘It would be disrespectful to my ancestors to see that film.’”
“That’s the only thing I’m going to say. I can’t disrespect my ancestors. I can’t do it. I can’t do it. Now that’s me. I’m not speaking on behalf of anybody but myself. I can’t do it.”……………..watch below and weigh in
Tyler Perry is inking a multi million dollar deal with Own Network. He’s teaming up with Oprah to take over TV. Two moguls with brilliant colorful minds joining forces do you think they can take Own to the next level?
Oprah’s Own Network has been struggling to stay afloat. This deal along with all the young hot celebrity interviews Oprah’s snagged for Own might be the raft she’s been desperately seeking.
Hollywood’s highest-paid man and woman have joined forces, with Tyler Perry signing a deal to produce shows exclusively for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network, including two new scripted series set to premiere in mid-2013, CBS News reports. If the combined effort of these two wildly successful media moguls doesn’t get the network the ratings it’s been after, we don’t know what will.
“I have been looking forward to the day when we would be in the position to enter the world of scripted television. That day has come,” Oprah said in a press release. “We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series. He has an incredible ability to illuminate life stories and characters in his unique voice and inspires and encourages people all over the world.”
Perry — who in the past has produced the sitcoms House of Payne and Meet the Browns for TBS — also expressed his excitement at the new opportunities that will come about as a result of the new deal. “It’s a dream realized to partner with Oprah and bring scripted programming to OWN,” he said in a statement. “She has accomplished so much with the network and I’m excited to work with her to be a part of its continued growth.”
This partnership could give the Winfrey-Perry team an unprecedented type of control over the images of (what we assume will be) black people on television. Can they handle it?
Mjj says… Money begets Money, If Tyler saved TBS network, he can put on his Superman cape once again and save OWN…..that’s more believable than Tyler Perry’s character Alex Cross…please go out and support anyway October 19 at a theater near you.
Nicki Minaj and Mariah have been going hard in the paint during American Idol’s auditions. Some believe, as I do that this is just a publicity stunt while others believe that the two ladies just don’t care for each other….and then we have Nicki’s version…..She believes that A.I. producers are conspiring against her along with Mariah for their ratings boost. Is there any validity to this……
Nicki Minaj is FURIOUS with “American Idol” producers — telling her peeps they goosed Mariah Carey into starting beef on the set.
Sources connected with Nicki tell us … she’s convinced producers — along with member’s of Mariah’s team — are conspiring to get under her skin … because they think a pissed off Minaj will bring in viewers.
We’re told Nicki is adamant … she won’t be anyone’s puppet and if she feels she’s being set up, she vows to “cut it off at the head.” As for how, she says for starters, the next time Mariah “acts up,” Nicki is walking off the set.
There’s just one problem with her theory — we know “Idol” producers were genuinely shocked and upset by Tuesday’s outburst. Our very connected “Idol” sources tell us the big wigs were completely flat footed and they are doing everything they can to restore peace — which they successfully did Wednesday.
As for conspiracies between producers and Mariah … we believe in the grassy knoll just like the next guy, but in this case Oswald did it alone.
Mjj says….I’m not to sure and quick to dismiss Nicki’s apprehensions and paranoia’s…it may not be all in her crazy pretty head, if Mariah’s first husband Tommy Mottola was capable of allegedly chasing Mariah to the looney bin, anything is possible. Mariah learned from the best…… F*cking A Mariah or is it Mimi.
Steel Magnolias TV remake debut might be postponed if Victoria L. White, the executive producer of the 1989 film has it her way. She wants to be credited for her work and cashed out.
White went to a judge to put a halt on the movie just days away from its big debut. According to Victoria, Sony pictures made an agreement with her prior to this film that she would receive proceeds on any film that coincides with her original film.
Victoria L. White — executive producer of the 1989 film starring Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, and Shirley MacLaine — filed suit (on Monday) against Sony Pictures and Lifetime Television … which is producing the new TV movie starring Queen Latifah, Jill Scott and Phylicia Rashad. In the documents, White claims she has a “Television agreement” that entitles her to a co-producer or co-executive producer credit on any TV project based on her hit film.
According to the suit, White also says she’s entitled to some cash for the Lifetime remake — including a $15,000 fee, plus up to 3.75% of net profits from the movie. White further alleges Sony is fully aware of her TV deal … because it gave her a co-producer credit and compensation the first time this happened. For those who don’t remember (as in all of us), there was already a 1992 CBS TV movie based on “Steel Magnolias.” White is suing for compensation on the Lifetime remake — and she wants an injunction to stop the film from airing … unless she gets her on-screen credit.
